Personal data protection in the health care sector in the light of the changes of the EU law, 3.07.2017
On 3 July 2017, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection took part in the Conference organised in Bialystok by the Podlasie region’s division of the National Health Fund and the Podlasie region Voivode. The subject of the event was a discussion on the changes introduced by the data protection reform in the health care sector.
The Conference was opened by Mr Maciej Bogdan Olesiński, Director of the Podlasie region’s division of the National Health Fund in Bialystok, Rev. Prof. Stanisław Dziekoński, Rector of the Cardinal Wyszyński University in Warsaw and Dr Edyta Bielak Jomaa, the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, who also presented basic assumptions of the data protection law reform in the EU. Whereas Rector Rev. Prof. Stanisław Dziekoński presented the role of universities in data protection education in the face of current challenges.
The personal data protection system in Poland in the light of the General Data Protection Regulation as well as selected problems regarding personal data protection in the health care sector in the light of current and future legal provisions were presented to the audience by the representative of the GIODO Bureau: Mr Piotr Drobek, Deputy Director of the Social Education and International Cooperation Department and Mrs Weronika Kowalik, Deputy Director of the Jurisdiction, Legislation and Complaints Department.
